My name is Zaid Ali and I was born in Suva, Fiji Islands. I went to Marist Brothers High and University of the South Pacific where I studied Computer Science and Physics. I started my career by developing Internet in Fiji Islands and south pacific countries during 1996-1998. I moved to Silicon Valley in 1998 and did my first technology startup at WebEx where I built its MediaTone™ network across the US and Europe. I currently work for LinkedIn where I manage Global Network Engineering and Operations. I serve as Chairman & President of the San Francisco Bay area chapter of the Internet Society. I also studied classical Arabic music and play middle eastern percussion instruments such as Dharbuka, Riqq and frame drum.
